Soroptimist International Northern Highlands members have been working in conjunction with local service

groups; Apex, Lions and Freemasons to raise funds for shade to be erected over the Memorial Park playground.

Master of Victoria Lodge, Ken Porter was extremely pleased to present a cheque for $1000 to Mary Clark, representing Soroptimists members who have been the driving force behind the project for a number of years.

With feverish fundraising and grant funding being applied for, all the Clubs have reached their goal, pooled their monies and the shade has been approved and ordered.

Hopefully in the next couple of months  the playground equipment will be shaded and more user-friendly during the sunny days of summer, adding another feature to an impressive recreational area in town.

News of the project has reached even the Freemasons Grand Lodge and they came to the party with a donation of $500 which was matched by the local Victoria Lodge.
