The round of Craft Lodge Installations in the Northern Territory in August this year were attended by the Most Worshipful Grand Master Stephen Michalak, his wife Jenny, the Right Worshipful Deputy Grand Master Bill Merrill, together with VWBro. Wayne Hancock, Grand Director of Ceremonies, and VWBro. Peter Crispe, PDGDC, with his wife Bev.  Everyone who participated enjoyed a most memorable weekend. A brief summary follows:   The Port Darwin Lodge  No. 41 - Friday 12th August 2016.

MWBro. John Henry William Carter, Grand Master of Mark Master Masons of South Australia and the Northern Territory of Australia Incorporated had organised to travel to the Northern Territory to attend the Installations for the Mark and Royal Ark Mariner which took place from 10th September 2016 to 17th September 2016.  Things started to unexpectedly unravel around morning tea time on the Thursday prior the Installations with notification from Grand Lodge that the Grand Master was now not able to attend.

On Saturday 6th August 2016 Adelaide Western Sovereign Council No. 37 met by Dispensation at the Darwin Masonic Precinct to Elevate Hon. E&P Bro. Austin Asche AC QC, a member of Darwin Trinity Rose Croix No. 880 to the 30°.   This was Masonic history in the making as it was the first time a Sovereign Council has met in the Northern Territory. It was further enhanced by the very welcomed attendance of Most Powerful Bro. Ian Tilbury 33° Sovereign Grand Commander which is only the second time a SGC has visited Darwin.

  Morning tea is served at a walk in Botanic Park   A couple of members of Edwardstown Lodge regularly walked their dogs on a Sunday morning and on several occasions met up and enjoyed a coffee break on the way.  Word spread and it was decided that this could be a regular social event to be held once each month.

On 26th August 2016 Edwardstown Lodge held their first meeting of their Masonic year. With many items on the Agenda to work through it was a busy and entertaining evening. The meeting was broken into two sections incorporating an Open Twinning Ceremony.

The Half-Yearly Communication and Conference of Grand Lodge will be held at Freemasons Hall, North Terrace, Adelaide, on Saturday 15th October, 2016 at 2.00pm   The Communication is scheduled to commence at 6.00 pm.   Mixed Dinner to follow the Conference/Communication

In 2013 United Service Lodge No. 37 (which has now surrendered its Warrant) - commissioned a Perpetual Trophy to support Le Fevre High School's Maritime Course by providing an Annual Award, supported by the Freemasons Foundation, of $1800, to enable disadvantaged students studying in the School's Maritime Course II to participate in an end-of-year voyage on the "One and All" sailing ship.

On the 29th July 2016 Edwardstown Lodge held their 69th Installation Ceremony at the Edwardstown Masonic Hall.   A little over 100 Brethren gathered to attend the Installation Ceremony of Master-Elect Bro. Gary Joerin SW.

At the Trophy Presentation evening held on Monday 18th July 2016  of the Goolwa Regatta Yacht Club, Mr Mal Hancock representing the Corinthian Lodge, acknowledged Trish Faulkner as the Inaugural winner of the Perpetual Trophy.

The Supreme Council 33° of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite for Australia has awarded Em. Bro. Lindsay Arthur Wills 32° their highest Award, the Knight Commander of the Order of Merit (KCoM).  Only one award is made in every three years in each Region.   Em. Bro. Wills 32° has demonstrated extraordinary and meritorious dedication to the Rite over many years. He is active in other Orders, and is a strong supporter of the Craft.  He has served as Recorder of his Port Adelaide Sovereign Chapter for 22 years.

On Saturday 20th August 2016 approximately 120 people attended Freemasons Hall for an uplifting evening of music provided by the renowned musicians of the South Australian Police "Off the Cuff Band" and the "Tutti Choir".  The repertoire included a mix of traditional and contemporary classical music, gospel, jazz, rock and pop. There was something for everyone!

Friday 5th August 2016 and Saturday 6th August 2016 saw two first time Masters installed in the Craft Lodges that operate in Central Australia.   Bro. Grant Ohlmus was installed by RWBro. Neil Jensen AGM as Master of McDouall Stuart Lodge No. 219 on the Friday evening, which was followed, at the Lodge Rooms, by an informal catered Festive Board for the Brethren.
